The last three decades have seen environmental considerations move to centre stage in many aspects of our economic and social lives. A look at the volume of EU environment-related policy and legislative initiatives alone is sufficient to understand the ever-growing importance of the environmental dimension to our lives. Global warming is one of the single biggest challenges that humankind has ever faced, with huge consequences for how we organise our economies and societies. Globally, over the past century, the average temperature of the atmosphere near the earth’s surface has risen by 0.74 degrees Celsius. The scientific consensus is that global temperatures could rise by between 1.1 and 6.4 degrees Celsius above 1980 - 1999 levels by the end of the 21st century, depending on the levels of future greenhouse gas emissions and recent studies show that this may be happening at an even faster rate. This will have huge consequences on our economies and societies.

New Frontier Services has undertaken numerous consulting engagements in the environment and natural resources management sector, working with leading environment programmes such as the EC’s ENRTP Programme (Environment and Sustainable Management of Natural Resources) and the United Nations’ Global Environment Fund (GEF).
